Pupil Premium Funding and Universal Free School Meal Information
Schools are allocated funding by the government called Pupil Premium
There are various ways in which the funding could be used to support the needs of your child. It could be with extra teaching (small group work) if necessary or to pay for any extra curricular activities/trips etc. that would help to support your child’s learning.
Children that receive this funding are also eligible to free schools meals whatever age they are. This funding is not to be confused with Universal Free School Meals, which is where ALL children when they start school up until they reach Key stage 2 are entitled to receive a free school meal.
For school’s to access this extra Pupil Premium Funding you must be in receipt of one of the following benefits:
- Income Support
- income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- the guaranteed element of Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
- Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
- Universal Credit - if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)
